Demilune Table 

A solid top of Claro Walnut with the boards meticulously chosen to make the best use of its figure are then book matched to further enhance the grain.  Delicate stringing is cut by hand with tools made in our shop.  And hand tools are again used to precisely inlay the stringing in the beautiful figured Claro Walnut top.  The carving on the table’s top edge is done with a chisel, gouges, and a mallet.  While the “Carbouchon and dart” pattern is the classic pattern I chose a “Carbouchon and ball” to compliment the ball and claw feet.  The table’s skirt is also Claro Walnut and was formed by using the bent lamination technique.  Concealed between the two front legs of the table’s elliptical shaped skirt is its drawer.  The drawer features hand cut dovetails, wood full extension guides. The solid Walnut bottom was panel raised using a hand plane. The legs are crafted from American black Walnut they were carefully grain and color matched to compliment the top and skirt. The ball and claw feet were assiduously carved by hand in the Philadelphia style.  The finish is clear lacquer.
